The deadline for option choices is 29th February. Work Experience will be taking place from 9th – 20th July 2012 for all Year 10 students. Students will be able to make six choices here from Monday 23rd January once they have received their Username and PIN.

Information On Register SweepsWe know you support our work to maintain high standards of attendance and I am writing to let you know that the School's Attendance Officers will be conducting a 'Register Sweep' for The Gilberd School on Tuesday 24th January 2012. Year 9 PathwaysThis is an extremely important term for Year 9 students. They soon have to make decisions about the courses that they would like to follow at Key Stage 4 in Years 10 and 11. The students are in the process of finding out about the various pathways available to them and the subjects on offer at KS4. They have already had an assembly explaining the different Pathways. To support parents/carers in guiding their son/daughter through the process, we shall we holding an Information Pathways Evening on Wednesday 1st February at 7pm in the main hall. Due to limited space, this event is for parents/carers only. Students have the opportunity to speak to The Subject Leaders from 3.30-4.30 on Wednesday 1st February. Your son/daughter should have brought a letter home about this event already. A copy of this letter, along with the Power Points used are on the website. The Pathways Booklet and time line of events for Year 9 options will also be available on the website soon. Attention Instrumental StudentsYou will no longer receive a paper copy of your instrumental timetable. Timetables will now be sent to you via your school email account and you will receive updated versions as and when changes are made. If you are unsure of your lesson times please consult the notice board outside the practice rooms in the PA Block as per normal and be sure to check your email accounts regularly during the first few weeks of term for updates. Instrumental lessons will start Monday 9th January, if you have not received a timetable by Monday please see Mr Hele in the PA Block. |
