We are just writing to confirm the arrangements for the end of this term and the start of the new school year.
As Switzerland proved to be an expensive option, there were insufficient numbers to run a ski trip to Crans Montana in 2011.
The Gilberd School has been able to offer a water sports holiday to its students for many years. We are pleased to be able to offer this trip again during the summer of 2011.
The trip details are as follows:
Parents should not normally take their children on holiday in term time. There is no legal right to do so. However, you may apply to the school for leave of absence for up to 10 days. A term time holiday will only be authorised by the school if they believe there are special circumstances which warrant it. (The Education (Pupil Registration) (England) Regulations 2006)
We are all aware of the instances of swine flu in the media. Mindful of the fact that this is likely to be an issue this term we felt it would be useful to reissue the information we sent to parents last year.
Letter from Headteacher
Swine flu is a virus that is particularly affecting children and young adults. Children are proving to be highly efficient carriers of the swine flu (H1N1) virus and schools provide the perfect environment for it to spread.
As you may have seen in the press, the World Health Organisation (WHO) is making appropriate preparations in the event of an Influenza Pandemic. Please fill out this form if your contact details have changed.
Attached below is a document that outlines important information about the virus and holds a guide to what measures can be taken to prevent against infection.
