Early Arrival To SchoolAttendance and punctuality are vital to a student's success at school. As such, we appreciate the sometimes huge effort from parents who cajole and encourage their children to come to school, even when they're tired or a little under the weather! Lessons start with registration at 8.45, although students should be at their class or assembly from 8.40 in order to allow for a prompt start. For those who are livelier in the morning, there are various clubs available in school from as early as 7.45. Details of these can be found on the school website; click on "students" then "extra time" and "clubs." Outside of these clubs, staff are not available to supervise students in the morning and as such we would request that students do not arrive in school until around 8.30. Information On Register SweepsWe know you support our work to maintain high standards of attendance and I am writing to let you know that the School's Attendance Officers will be conducting a 'Register Sweep' for The Gilberd School on Tuesday 24th January 2012. |
“Grease” Gilberd School ProductionOur school performance of Grease takes place this week. Tickets are on sale from the PA faculty office and are priced at £7 per adult and £5 for concessions. The performance on Saturday 11th February is now SOLD OUT! Internet Safety Day – Tuesday 7th February 2012Internet Safety Day is an annual event organised by Insafe to promote the safer and more responsible use of online technologies and mobile phones. The event is coordinated by the Child Exploitation & Online Protection Centre (CEOP). We are promoting the day throughout the school in tutor periods, assemblies, on the school web-site and on all the monitors in the school. The day itself is Tuesday 7th February but we use the whole week as an opportunity to inform our students, Parents and staff in order to help keep them safe when using technology.
