


The ECDL is a certificate of knowledge and proven competence that is based on a single agreed Syllabus. It certifies that the holder has knowledge of the basic concepts of Information Technology and is able to use a personal computer and common computer applications at a known level of competence.
The ECDL consists of seven module tests which lead to the qualification. The modules are:
Basic concepts of IT
Using the computer and managing files
Word processing
Spreadsheets
Database
Presentation
Information and Communication
When a candidate registers to start the ECDL certification process he/she receives a Log Book in which success in the seven tests is recorded. When all seven modules are completed the candidate receives the European Computer Driving Licence. The training materials comprise of interactive software, practical tasks and practice tests.
The European Computer Driving Licence is an internationally accepted certificate. It can simplify employment procedures and assure the employer that the applicant and staff have the necessary level of knowledge and competence to use common computer applications.
Achievement of this qualification is being seen more and more as the standard by which employers can benchmark the computer competency of both current and potential staff and by which staff can increase their job prospects and future opportunities.
